Food Safety Supervisor Course Overview
The SITSS00069 – Food Safety Supervision Skill Set is made up of two units:
- SITXFSA005 – Use hygienic practices for food safety, and
- SITXFSA006 – Participate in safe food handling practices
These units will help you develop safe and hygienic handling practices by providing you with a better understanding of food safety programs. The principles of the ANZFS Code and food safety systems such as Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (or HACCP) and Covid19 legislative requirements.
Upon satisfactory completion of this training and assessment, you will receive the certification for the nationally recognised SITSS00069 – Food Safety Supervision Skill Set. This certification is required by Food Standards Australia and New Zealand and the WA Health Department.
You can choose from the following options:
Option 1: 100% Online Course
This is for students who are already in the workplace and have a supervisor available to observe them. You will need to have access to a commercial kitchen and food preparation area. You can learn online at your own pace, all the way.
Option 2: Online Course + Perth Classroom Practical Assessment
This is for students who are not in the workplace. Best for students who would like to complete theory online and do the practical components face-to-face. You can learn online at your own pace, with a face-to-face Assessment with your Assessor.
Entry
While there are no prerequisites for this course, your language, literacy and numeracy skills will be assessed to enable us to gauge any additional support requirements.
Students must be able to demonstrate a level of language, literacy and numeracy skills to be able to read and interpret legislation and regulations, hold discussions with all stakeholder groups and gather and provide information in both written and oral forms.
Important: Students enrolling in the online-only version of the course must have access to a commercial kitchen and a supervisor.
Students must also be residents in Western Australia – and will be required to provide proof of residency (address). Individuals who are on visas will be required to provide visa information, so that course eligibility can be verified.
Update: Overseas students are now able to complete this course with us due to recent changes to the Education Services for Overseas Students Act 2000 (ESOS Act).

You will need access to the internet and a device (computer, phone or tablet) to complete the online portion of the course.
Streamline will provide all Learning Materials and Assessments.
Duration
Online Learning & Assessment (~12 hours) – Can be completed at your own pace.
Practical Demonstration (~45-60 mins) – Conducted in the workplace.
Maximum timeframe for completion is 3 months from enrolment date.
Assessment
The type of assessment tasks include:
- Knowledge activities
- Practical demonstration
- Direct observation
*Timeframes for assessment completion depend on individual progress.
Option 2: Online Course + Perth Classroom Practical Assessment
Delivery Mode
This course completed mostly online with a short practical demonstration via a face-to-face session.
Resources
You will need access to the internet and a device (computer, phone or tablet) to complete the online portion of the course.

Duration
Online Learning & Assessment (~12 hours) – Can be completed at your own pace.
Practical Assessment (~45-60 mins) – Conducted face-to-face – (Note: when booking for the assessment, student must be ready to be assessed as soon as they arrive at the venue.)
