Food Safety Supervisor Course Overview
The SITSS00069 – Food Safety Supervision Skill Set is made up of two units:
- SITXFSA005 – Use hygienic practices for food safety, and
- SITXFSA006 – Participate in safe food handling practices
These units will help you develop safe and hygienic handling practices by providing you with a better understanding of food safety programs. The principles of the ANZFS Code and food safety systems such as Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (or HACCP) and Covid19 legislative requirements.
Upon satisfactory completion of this training and assessment, you will receive the certification for the nationally recognised SITSS00069 – Food Safety Supervision Skill Set. This certification is required by Food Standards Australia and New Zealand and the WA Health Department.
You can choose from the following options:
Option 1: 100% Online Course for students who are already in the workplace (with a commercial kitchen)
This is for students already in the workplace. If you have access to a commercial kitchen or commercial food preparation area, then this option is best for you. You can learn online at your own pace, all the way.
Option 2: Online plus Face to Face Practical for students who are new to the industry
Best for students who require access to a commercial kitchen environment to complete the practical assessment face-to-face, regardless of whether you are in the workplace or not.
Entry
While there are no prerequisites for this course, your language, literacy and numeracy skills will be assessed to enable us to gauge any additional support requirements.
Students must be able to demonstrate a level of language, literacy and numeracy skills to be able to read and interpret legislation and regulations, hold discussions with all stakeholder groups and gather and provide information in both written and oral forms.
Student who opt to complete the online version of the course must be in a commercial kitchen environment (workplace) to complete this course option.
Students must also be residents (living) in Western Australia – and will be required to provide proof of residency address. Individuals who are on visas will be required to provide visa information, so that course eligibility can be verified.
Update: Overseas students are now able to complete this course with us due to recent changes to the Education Services for Overseas Students Act 2000 (ESOS Act).

Students choosing Option 1 can upgrade at any time to Option 2 by paying the difference in price to attend the Streamline Training Premises.

Course Details
Option 1: 100% Online Course for students in the workplace
Delivery Mode
This course completed mostly online and requires the student to be in a workplace with access to a commercial kitchen to complete the practical assessment.
Resources
You will need access to the internet and a device (computer, phone or tablet) to complete the online portion of the course.
Streamline will provide all Learning Materials and Assessments.
Duration
Online Learning & Assessment (~12 hours) – Can be completed at your own pace.
Practical Demonstration (~45-60 mins) – Conducted in the workplace.
Maximum timeframe for completion is 3 months from enrolment date.
Assessment
The type of assessment tasks include:
- Knowledge activities
- Direct observation in the workplace
*Timeframes for assessment completion depend on individual progress.
Option 2: Online plus Face to Face Practical for students new to industry
Delivery Mode
This is a face-to-face course completed online and the assessment is conducted at Streamline Training’s premises.

Streamline will provide all Learning Materials and Assessments.
Duration
Online Learning & Assessment (~12 hours) – Can be completed at your own pace.
Practical Demonstration (~45-60 mins) – Conducted at Streamline Training’s premises.
Assessment
The type of assessment tasks include:

- Role play
*Timeframes for assessment completion depend on individual progress.
Breaks are provided to enable students to enjoy food and beverages from the surrounding hospitality venues. Due to work health and safety, hot drinks are not provided by Streamline Training.
